Kibera Hope Feeding Program
Kibera Hope Feeding Program was established in 2001 with the main purpose of providing food for school going children. Currently the program feeds 250 children from the informal settlement. However, the food is not adequate thus resulting to a situation whereby the children do not get the much needed nutrition.
In Kenya today, we have a reasonable number the destitute children who have emerged as a result of negligence, broken families, fleeing from the neighboring countries for security and a bigger percentage being orphaned. Consequently the destitute have settled in masses in the slums and that has enhanced the problem other than solving it.
For that reason, Kenya has been identified to have one of the biggest slums in Africa known as Kibera slum. Kibera is derived from a Nubian word meaning a jungle. It has been estimated that the slum has a population of more than a million people and worse off it is still growing.
